Alps Skiing

  • You don’t need to be an expert skier to enjoy the amazing terrain or have a unique experience in Europe. The Alps has terrain for everyone, steep classics, such as the Cosmique Couloir, to mellow glacier touring down the Vallee Blanche with the whole family.

Have you ever wanted to ski to another country for the simple pleasure of an Italian lunch? With a guide, intermediate ski skills, and a little fitness, this is a great way to spend a day.

On the Classics steep skiing off piste, I would suggest the group be Two Skiers to One Guide. 2:1. We are able to move through the terrain more efficiently. Maximizing your experience.

  • Guiding Day Rates:

    $500 Day 2 Skiers
    $550 Day 3 Skiers
    $600 Day 4 Skiers

Does not include lift pass and rescue insurance.

Bernese Oberland, Switzerland Haute Route

  • The Bernese Oberland Haute Route is custom planned according to number of days, group desire/ability. The huts are relatively close together with an array of options for ski descents. Typically I would suggest 3-5 days.

4 Skiers Per Guide MaxDepending on group size, we can bring on another guide.

    Spring 2022

    SAMPLE ITINERARY

We will meet in Grindelwald. Discuss plan, answer questions, check gear, have a great dinner and spend the night.

DAY 1: After dropping our bags at the train station in the morning to be sent on to Visp, we ride the Jungfraubahn to Jungfraujoch, the first Alpine UNESCO World Heritage Site. A short tour up to the Mönchsjochhütte with time for skiing or a fantastic climb of the Mönch (4107M) and a rescue review.

DAY 2 & 3: Mönchsjochhütte to Finsteraarhornhütte. Up and over the Fieschersattel and a 1000M descent down the Walliser Glacier. I like to spend two days here with the numerous descent options: Grosses Wannenhorn, Wyssnollen, Finsteraarhorn.

DAY 4: Finsteraarhornhütte to Konkordiahütte. The distance is a short and the views amazing through the Grünhornlücke. Descent options Grosses Grünhorn or the Grünegg. Due to global weirding, we have 500 stairs to get to the hut that afternoon....

DAY 5: Konkordiahütte to Visp. Ski Äbeni Flue. On our final day we cross the Grosser Aletschfirn through the Lötchenlücke and descend 2000M into Blatten, Lötschental. After lunch on the terrace at the Breithorn Hotel, we have a short bus ride and train down the valley to Visp.

  • All Haute Routes are private and custom planned. First we will discuss group ability and desired days. Please contact.

Bernese Oberland Trilogy

  • The Oberland Trilogy is comprised of three peaks climbed over *three to four days. They include the Mönch (4,110m / 13,480ft), the Eiger (3,967m / 13,015ft), and the Jungfrau (4,158m / 13,642 ft).

All worthy objectives in their own right. Occasionally when weather and fitness align a few alpinist will try their hand at summiting all three in just a few days.

With the spectacular location of the Mönchsjochhütte and the Mittellegi hütte, it’s possible to climb these peaks with only a warm layer, food, and hydration for the day. Making the packs light!

We will meet in Grindelwald in the late afternoon, check gear for the climbs, and have dinner in town. In the morning, we depart Grindelwald via the Jungfraujoch train and head to the Jungfraujoch. Not only one of the most astounding tourist attractions in Europe, but also one of the highest astronomical observatories in the world. Once here, we will hike across the Altesch Glacier, a UNESCO World Heritage site to the start of the Mönch.

Once off the summit, we will make a short hike to the Mönchsjochhütte for an afternoon snack and coffee before a multi course dinner. Tonight we will stay in the Mönchsjochhütte to help acclimatize for our next two climbs.

Day two begins with a gentleman’s / gentleladie’s start. After breakfast we will hike back over the the Jungfraujoch and take in some of the exhibits. Following lunch, we board the train towards Kleine Scheidegg, exiting at Eismeer Station. From here we make our way to the Mittellegi Hütte, where we’ll spend the night.

Early the next morning we climb to the summit via the Mittellegi Ridge. Descending either the South Ridge of the West Flank. Then it’s back to the Jungfraujochhutte to relax and prepare for the next morning.

Today we will leave the refuge at around 4a hiking towards the start of the Jungfrau. It’s another long day with slightly less technical climbing than we experienced on the Eiger, but there is still exposed ridges to negotiate.

Once off the Jungfrau, we head back to Grindelwald, have a much needed shower, then off to dinner.

These climbs are for experienced alpinists only. You must be able to climb rock up to 5.7 in boots. Although these climbs have a lot of moderate terrain, you must be able to move confidently and efficiently.

*the three day itinerary combines climbing the Mönch then climbing to the Mittellegi Refuge on day one. I can not emphasize how important fitness is for this variation…

Alps Alpine Climbing

  • France and Switzerland are two of the most famous countries for alpine climbing. There are 82 official peaks over 4000m throughout the Western Alps. In the summer months, the valleys welcome novice and experienced climbers from all over the world.

Quintessential mountain huts with comfortable beds and fantastic local cuisine allow us to spend days in the mountains carrying just our climbing gear and food for the day.

I guide a vast majority of them. Some are only climbable certain times of the year while others only require a weather windows.
